The establishment of the “SKK Socialists” was designed to alleviate the problem of providing regular cricket for all SKK members, particularly for those who can’t commit to or don’t regularly play for the regular SM50 fixtures, and seeks to provide friendly fixtures throughout the season.

The priorities in terms of selection for these fixtures will be those who are:

1. Those not at the time being selected for the SM45 team and are looking for an opportunity to display their form.
2. Those who are new to the club and are looking for an opportunity to display their talents for whatever future level of participation.
3. For those who just enjoy any opportunity to play a game of cricket.
4. For those who would like to just have a go at this exotic pastime!

Once places have been taken by those in the categories above, members of the current SM45 side will also be most welcome to take up any remaining places. As this side plays outside of the formal league structure, there is no FCA registration requirement, however newcomers would be expected to take up an appropriate level of SKK membership for the season in question. It is really a combination of a traditional 2nd XI, where opportunities are given to those with ambitions to play in the SM45 league and of a social side where individuals simply enjoy the game of cricket.

The intention is that all games are played to win, however there is not a win at all costs attitude and the matches are played in cricket’s renowned spirit of sportsmanship and respect. The SKK cricket club probably has the most internationally diverse membership in Finland, and enthusiasts from all over the world are welcome to get involved.

TERVETULOA!
